The Perfect Steak… KOR Style

The Perfect SteakConsidering the popularity of steak, it’s shocking to learn that many consumers prefer to eat at steakhouses instead of making their own steak at home.  In fact, consumers often complain of poor taste, flavor, and quality when attempting to cook steak themselves. Here at KOR, we want you to feel comfortable creating a restaurant-quality steak in your own home. Below is a list of steps you need to take in order to make a delicious, perfectly cooked steak using a pan and a few ingredients.

Step 1: Take the steaks out of the refrigerator 20 minutes before cooking so that the inside temperature reaches that of the outside. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Heat a pan and add oil once it is hot.

Step 3: Place steaks in pan. You should hear a nice sizzle, which will ensure you are getting the proper sear. Don’t forget to sear the sides as well.

Step 4: Using tongs, turn steaks every minute to get a nice color.

Step 5: As the steaks continue to cook, add garlic, fresh thyme, and knobs of butter to the pan. This will give it extra flavor and help with the searing process.

Step 6: Continue to cook until your desired temperature is reached (rare, medium-rare, medium, medium-well, or well done).

Step 7: Remove steaks from pan and let rest on a cutting board prior to slicing for 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 8: Slice the steaks at an angle and serve with your favorite sides.
